The Patrol Division is the foundation of the Oradell Police Department. This Division consists of three shifts on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Uniformed officers may patrol in a vehicle, on foot, or on bicycle, depending on their assignment. They are responsible for answering calls for assistance, protecting life and property, writing detailed reports on their findings, and conducting follow-up investigations. Our police officers are trained to be professional and courteous as they perform their duties. As sworn law enforcement officers, they are vested with powers of arrest, are trained in CPR and first aid, and are armed.
The Oradell Police Department Patrol Division has always been dedicated to maintaining a safe and crime-free environment for the citizens of Oradell. Most Oradell Police Patrol Cars are equipped with radar and Mobile Data Terminals (MDT). These are in-vehicle computers that allow the patrol officer to get an almost instant look-up of license plates and driver information which can prove invaluable during traffic stops. It also allows access to State and Federal data systems for criminal wants and warrants.
Our uniformed patrol officers are the first to respond to emergency calls through out the borough. They work 8-hour shifts, commanded by the shift sergeant, with shifts rotating every five days.
