Oradell Police Department

It is the responsibility of the Detective Bureau to follow up on all major felony police investigations on crimes against persons and property. The Detective Bureau also supports the Patrol Division and their investigations through interviews with crime victims, witnesses and perpetrators of criminal activity.

Additionally, all background investigations of prospective police employees, as well as internal affairs investigations of current employees (as they may arise) are conducted through the Bureau. This Division also conducts narcotic, vice, undercover/covert and surveillance activity within our borough as well as coordinates this type of activity with agencies outside of jurisdiction when required. The Bureau collects, inventories and stores all evidence/property obtained by all members of the police agency and is responsible for the storage, distribution and/or return of it.

Our detectives strive to maintain a relationship with all members of the department, while also working closely with numerous municipal, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

Additionally, the detectives encourage the sharing of appropriate information with members of the public. Many investigations are initiated as well as solved through this type of cooperative effort. Detectives are typically available Monday thru Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. At all other times, detectives are available through an "on-call" status to respond as needed.
