Looking Forward

Posted: February 7th, 2009 - 03:43 AM

OPD is looking to the future in ways on improving the patrol fleet.  Through extensive research the OPD will be looking for a vehicle that is specifically designed and suitable for extended patrol use, performance, fuel economy, storage and safety just to name a few.  As first responders, a tremendous amount of thought and planning goes into a patrol vehicle before it ever goes into service. For example, a front line patrol vehicle or police package must be capable of responding to a vast diversity of demanding situations in any environment.  Patrol vehicles are outfitted with the necessary emergency lighting, siren, reflective stripping, offender transport, first responder equipment and police gear so that officers are prepared for any situation.  Why? Because, seconds may make the difference!
